How to eradicate a disease, in 4 steps.

As of March 2021, Covid-19 has killed more than 2.5 million people. It’s brought on a dramatic economic downfall, a mental health crisis, and has generally just put the world on pause. But we don’t have to look far back in history to see how much worse it could have been.
Smallpox was twice as contagious as Covid-19, and over 60 times as deadly. It plagued humanity for centuries, left many survivors blinded and covered in scars, and killed hundreds of millions of people in the 20th century alone. But today, smallpox has been eradicated. Through a massive global effort, we were able to wipe the disease completely out of existence.
So can we do the same thing with Covid-19? And if we can’t, what are our other options?

The fatality rate is 0.03 % not 0.5% like you suggested. 3 mil death divided by 7.8 billion world population =0.03%. The previous flu vaccines are just on average under 40% efficient. • Highly unlikely from what I have read and what scientists are predicting. The Virus will likely be like the flu and come back year after year. The good news is most people will have immunity with the vaccines being rolled out. There should also be infrastructure in place to keep us all safe as well "learn from the mistakes made". People will also have the learnt knowledge in how to stop the spread.

  • If we aren't prepared for a pandemic or another one in the later years, then we aren't prepared for things bigger than a pandemic, like climate change and the collapse of biodiversity. Everyone should stop coming up with empty promises, and start putting things into action, that way we will actually see change - a good and positive change. The time for action is now, virtually of course. Also, I find that some governments are very weak in implementing change. Why can't they pass a law that wearing a mask, sanitizing yourself and following social distancing protocols, is mandatory? Its things like this and taking the time to start enforcing lockdowns and quarantines way later, made the pandemic reach to a level that will make it difficult for the world to solve and recover.

  • One thing's for sure, COVID 19 gave rise to China and authoritarianism around the world. Now they want a vaccine passport but what's next? A social credit system? With the way things are going, we seem to be heading towards a China model where you can't say or think certain thoughts or be censored/career ruined to heavily restricting your movements or freedom while those at the top can break them but either shrug it off or apologize when caught. If China was only more transparent and didn't delay reporting, lie about COVID counts, threaten other nations for wanting to find the origins to prevent such an event from occurring again, reopening wet markets after a short ban, we wouldn't be in this situation in the first place. Go figure they would merge it with the common cold, saw this coming a mile away.

  • TOP W.H.O. CONTRIBUTORS. First- United States of America 15.18% of total budget - Second- Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation12.12% of total budget (interest in vaccines) - third- GAVI Alliance 8.18% of total budget (interest in vaccines). data from the website of the World Health Organization. In 2009, the GAVI Alliance, run by Bill Gates, was recognized as an international institution and granted total blanket immunity. As explained by Justus Hoffmann, Ph.D., one of the German Corona Extra-Parliamentary Inquiry Committee members, GAVI has “qualified diplomatic immunity,” which is odd, considering the organization has no political power that would warrant diplomatic immunity. Odder still is that GAVI’s immunity clauses go beyond even that of diplomats. GAVI’s immunity covers all aspects of engagement, including criminal business dealings. “They can do whatever they want,” Stuckelberger says, without repercussions. The police, for example, are barred from conducting an investigation and collecting evidence if GAVI were to be implicated in a criminal investigation. “It’s shocking,” she says. GAVI is also completely tax exempt, which Stuckelberger notes is “very strange.”... It is just a coincidence that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the second largest contributor to the WHO budget in the world and with strong interests in pharmacy and especially vaccines, organized an event in October 2019 (Event 201) in which, coincidentally, a pandemic by coronavirus infected the entire world population (in this simulation the virus was transmitted through pigs, not bats), all this long before the first cases even appeared in China and it is even more coincidental that the supposed laboratory in china (wuhan) where it is said that covid 19 was released was financed by the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation.

  • I don't understand the ring immunity concept. It seems like closing the barn door after the animals have escaped. If we find out that person A is infected and use contact tracing to locate persons B, C, D, and E who already have had contact with person A, how does vaccinating B, C, D, and E to create ring immunity help prevent them from spreading A's illness? After all, if they already were infected, then the vaccination is too late, and if they were not infected, then they cannot be carriers for A's infection.

Well, it is the 9th deadliest pandemic of all time and that's hardly nothing (and could end up at 6th or 7th spot when all is said and done). Also, the economic impact goes hand-in-hand with the pandemic as a historical event as 'The Great Lockdown'.
